Posted by Philothea` @ Monday, October 24, 2005 | It's better that I update now or never.
Laziness will soon get the better of me.
Last wed, 20 Oct 2005, one day batam tour
Intially, Mummy and I were prepared to explore Batam on our own but it seemed rather dangerous, plus we cant speak their local language, therefore we signed up with an tour agency at the eleventh hour. (like 5pm+ the day before the trip!) S$43 per person which includes the two-way ferry, seafood lunch and visits to places etc.
It turned out to be a really good deal.
To our advantage, not much pple will visit Batam ard this time of the year and we entitled to a tour guide and chauffeur entirely just to serve the two of us! We were surprisingly delighted (: We cld make adjustments to the itinerary and enjoy the flexibility. We werent keen on going with a tour agency at first cos we were afraid of the usual circumstances where everything is in a hurry, delays here and there etc.
Anyway, a picture paints a thousand words,
I might as well save you from my rantings.
A view of the habourfront centre.
Cant believe Mummy actually resorted to trimming her nails on the 40min ferry ride. Tsk*Tsk. How unsightly.

The red bucket -overwhelming rice! We only consumed like a few scoops.Crabs, prawns, fish, veg, cuttlefish, soup, coconut drink, fruits & more!
What a crazy amount to feed just the two of us!
Our eventual food wastage was justifiable :p

Nonetheless, the food was fresh & delicious, accompanied with a marvellous scenery.

After lunch, they drove us to DC Mall where our shopping spree began!
Unfortunately, it was rather disappointing :(
the stuffs there are cheap without quality. kinda reminded me of This fashion sort of apparent. Nothing in particular captured my attention.
Batam is pretty known for their massage, so we visited a message centre and spa.
S$20 for full body massage, full spa treatment (except facial) S$60+
I wasnt in the mood for such luxuries so gave it a miss.
Afterall, I wanted to shop, more than anything else. Shopping!
My heart sank when we were told that there was only one shopping mall at the batam centre, Mega Mall. I thought, how much can you get outta one place and when its not exactly mega?
Lo and behold! A new LEVIS boutique offically commenced business an hour before we arrived at Mega Mall and sales attracted typical Singaporean to extravagant buys. How can you resist an authentic pair of Levis Jeans for about half price of what is sold in Singapore?! CHEAP THRILLS. Lol.

Many random photos of Batam.

Posted by Philothea` @ Tuesday, October 18, 2005 | Just a short entry before my reunion with my bed and its comfy elements.
I was at Bugis Junction today, supposedly to meet 3 peeps seperately which are scheduled at different timing (sounds like I am meeting cilents) and to check out the availability a pair of shoes.
Eventually, two of them "flew aeroplanes". Nonetheless, I was occupied at Amore. There were two AMORE outlets (Bugis Junction & Bugis Village) and the gym is much better then the other branches. I only visited the gym for less then 20mins before I went ahead with HipHop dance and kickboxing. It was fun though the kick boxing session was so crowded.
The Nike shoes.
Since the shop at Bugis doesnt carry that presto model, purchase was made at Heeren instead. Anyway, we had already reserved it. Thanks to the courtesy of Dharni and his Nike endorsement, 15% discount were given. It would have been 30% if it was purchased at the Nike branch situated at Bugis, that explains why I ever bother to check it out. The shoes were made to be for Ethan's birthday shared among ywam&ys and celebrations this sunday - Tim Sum buffet at a hotel.Tim Sum, how I love! Stop making me jealous if you're going HongKong.
Anyhow, I will be TimSum-ing away with my family tmr at Thomson Plaza. Yay! Havent been there for my Tim Sum for nanny ages!
By the way, I will be on a short trip to Batam with mummy this thursday. SHOPPING trip to be exact! Wheeee! Dont know what Batam has to offer but at least, I can leave the shores of our pathetic island. Most importantly, it would be a good chance to spice up our mother-daughter relationship, we hardly spend quality time together nowadays.
Till then, I am still working on various projects for edc camp, marcom, mm etc.
Just a reminder for myself: VIGILANCE
I had learnt it the hard way.

All I want is You
by planet shakers
by planet shakers
I have waited all my life to be here face to face.
I never knew that I could feel this kind of grace.
The way You show me that Your blood has washed me clean,
Could never be erased; it lives inside of me.
Take me to that secret place,
Where I can only see Your Face,
And nothing else will ever feel this way.
You take away my guilty stains,
The things I have done that I cannot change,
It is only by the Power of Your name.
I stand here in this place,
See the Glory on Your Face,
Taken by the wonder of Your name.
I am desperate for Your touch,
Never needed it so much,
Cause all I want is You.
When all the things around me have fallen to the ground
I am always thankful for the love in You I have found.

Posted by Philothea` @ Friday, October 14, 2005 | I finally got rid of my old skin and revamped my blog. Was actually clearing stuffs on my desktop when I stumbled upon this picture of the girl on her bed and I really like this photo! Probably cos I'm pretty much like her when I was younger. I love to hop on my bed, dance and sing my heart out as if I had just fallen in love with the whole world. Haha. I really miss my bed. It has been gone for months. Long story. I gave my bed away and I am lying on mattress now. Oh wells. I dont mind at all. It makes my room more spacious since I can remove the mattress anytime.
Alright, I seriously need to catch some sleep now.
It's 4am. Gosh. There is still a long day ahead of me. Ciao!

Posted by Philothea` @ Friday, October 07, 2005 | I have exactly a month before my next sch term begins. My holidays haf been rather fruitful thus far. I dont feel that I am wasting it away but I'm not really satisfied with it. I know whats wrong but I shall not it mention now.
Anyway, a preview of my past two weeks.
Lets just begin with today.
Sorry if I sound boring. Ive been giving tuition these months and my teaching approach has taken effects. Somehow, I'm slightly losing passion in teaching.
Back to my day, I was at ikea and queenway shopping centre this afternoon. Apart from shopping, my indulgence in gluttony gained a remark from PeterSam (my sch lecturer who taught me in year 1) "Wah, you guys havnt eaten for days?" He was present with a few other VSC lecturers and I wondered why they had travelled all the way to ikea cafe for a drink. I don't see a single plate of food on their table. As for my table, there were chicken wings, a plate of 15 swedish meatballs, pork chop rice and vegetarian hor fun. Thats certainly more than sufficent for just two persons.
Visiting ikea always make me feel like moving to a new house where I can decide the furnishings. My current house is a complete shambles and I am so not motivated to do anything about it.
In the evening, I went ahead to give tuition before I rushed to Amore. Low Impact Aerobics class at 8.30pm.
I forgot to mention that Emme and I signed up at AMORE - a fitness centre for women. We paid near to a hundred dollars for an unlimited fitness package so we got to make our money worth (dat's the Singapore spirt! lol.) and we haf been going for fitness classes or the gym there consistently. You may think its quite dumb to pay for such stuffs but I am extremely not motivated to exercise on my own. Anyway, it located near to my house so its less of a hassle.
Since this tuesday 6 Oct, I stayed over for a night at the IMD chalet. My class chalet + bbq to be exact. Yong, Gail and Ronald (sch lecturers) were present at the bbq too. It was fun and great to catch up with everyone! Havnt really met them since the holidays began. Apart from that, I mastered the art of Majong and Tai Dee. Haha. I seriously didnt take any interest in them before that. It used to be Uno, Fishing, Heart Attack, Panic, all sota card games, etc I was fond of. Heez! So now you may include me at your Majong table, officially!
Last Sat, 1 Oct, on that faithful children's day, I spend the evening at Ian's house with my cg. Our very first steamboat before Ethan is being enlisted to NS and to welcome RuiZhen. It was more thrilling than you can imagine! Apparently, a fire broke out! Though it wasnt that serious, it was enough to take us aback. I ignored the smell of smoke initially till Wynnie exclaimed and pointed to the plug on the wall. It was real panic for us in the midst of our happy eating. I was cooking my fishball noodles then. Mike, Ben and QianJin came to the resue. It was a relief that we had handled it with calmness eventually. We contacted the security guards and one of them appeared with a little folly and humour as he dashed to the house with a fire extinguisher "Fire! Where? Where?"only to realise that the flames had been put out earlier on "Chey! I thought I can use this", disappointed that he had missed his chance of being a hero.
An interesting experience to be noted.

A lesson learnt:
Check your electricity plugs before using. Make sure that it has a sticker on it with the PUB approval with a tick accompanied with PSB test.
Ours was a problem cos there wasnt the sticker to gurantee if it can function properly but rather, we discovered a $1.30 price tag on it. There is a price to pay for buying cheap stuffs.
No wonder it was overheated and burst into sparks of flames. Under normal curcumstances if you had purchase a plug with the PUb sticker, it would have shut off the electricity of the entire place -black out.
After that, we ensured the usage of appropriate plug and carried on our steamboat.
The guys had such an appetite that appeared as if nothing had happened and their only concern were to grill the seafood.

It didnt take long before the rest of us recover from the rather traumatic experience and for a moment, we tot we werent hungry anymore.Last week, I also caught Corpse Bride.

It was a nice movie but it only lasted for an hr 15mins. It left me feeling kinda unsatisfied. I felt that the characters could be more developed...I can almost rant another paragraph of comments. (just cant help applying my knowledge of Language of film)
but sleeping is a better option now.
there she goes again,
off to bed.

I'm not updating...
I'm not gona update.
Lazy lah.
Okay lar.
UPDATED.
Honestly, I wondered why I even bothered.
Anyway, a few questions have been haunting me.
I asked God
"You said you love me, you said you died for me,
you said you went to the cross to redeem us from
our dreadful sins and its eternal consequences.
I know, I heard it so many times, I believe.
You did that for mankind, for every human being
which includes me...but does it matter
if I vanish from the face of this earth?
What difference does it make?
Even if I wasnt born, you would have done the same.
Your grace extends to everyone. I haf experienced it
but so what if I had not? So what if I had been ignorant?
What is it that I am questioning?
And Lord,
since everyone is special and unique,
then everyone is the same -being special and unique.
If everyone is the same,
then neither are we special nor unique.
Why should we even view ourselves
as special and unique individuals?
Doubts dancing about my finite brain.
till He whispered gently in the
deep recess of my frailty heart.
"You see, my child,
its never just about you.
Its all about me"
I wasnt convinced, "What about you?"
He tugged my conscience.
"You have been trying too hard
to look at the world through your bare eyes.
Faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see.
Have you forgotten what its like
to look at the world through me?"
I stood silent.
The song played repeatedly.
Above all powers, above of kings
Above all nature and all created things
Above all wisdom and all the ways of man
You were here before the world began
Above all kingdoms, above all thrones
Above all wonders the world has ever known
Above of wealth and treasures of the earth
There's no way to measure what You're worth
Crucified, laid behind a stone
You lived to die, rejected and alone
Like a rose trampled on the ground
You took the fall and thought of me
Above all
A rhema word rested immediately.
FAITH.
"Faith" I echoed.
Luke 17:5
The prayer of the apostles is my exact application.
"Lord, increase my faith"
I'm not gona update.
